Flexible packaging concept for gourmet pasta dishes

Creative chefs need creative cartons: RHIEM developed a flexible folding carton for organic pasta from North Rhine-Westphalia and gourmet sauces from star chef Alexander Wulf. The “star boxes” contain the ingredients for delicious dishes, adapt to recipes and ingredients and are made for e-commerce.

Star boxes for people who want to eat like in a starred restaurant: Biomüller, manufacturer of organic pasta from Wegberg near Mönchengladbach, is now working together with the multi-award-winning, well-known star chef Alexander Wulf. He also created delicious buffalo Bolognese sauces from organic ingredients for the regionally produced pasta. Three glasses of this plus three different portions of pasta make delicious gourmet dishes to cook yourself, and just like in a restaurant, there’s also a small appetizer or amuse-gueule to go with it. The only thing missing is creative packaging for these delicacies.

The packaging specialist RHIEM contributed these to the creative cooking partnership: RHIEM Packaging & Print designed and produced a practical folding box with inlays especially for them, in which jars and pasta are well protected and can be sent in a shatterproof manner. “We immediately hit it off during the collaboration and are proud to be able to support sustainable organic products with the star box,” says Ulrich Treiber, Managing Director of RHIEM Packaging & Print. “The eFulfillment experience of the entire RHIEM Group was incorporated into the development of the boxes.”

Development and production from a single source

Naturally, the boxes are made from environmentally friendly recycled corrugated cardboard and are printed with mineral oil-free inks. Modularly constructed from outer packaging and an inlay, the star boxes also offer chefs plenty of scope for further growth and more gourmet products: If Biomüller and Alexander Wulf create further dishes, a new interior for other containers can be quickly formed for the star box. “The collaboration with RHIEM is a hit for us,” says Reinhold Müller, owner of Biomüller. “Our packaging requirements were immediately understood and convincingly implemented. RHIEM’s customer orientation suits us well.”

The multifunctional star boxes were not only designed and sampled in Voerde, but also delivered to Biomüller ready for online shipping.
