What is fulfillment?
The term “fulfillment ” means something like “fulfillment”. In business, this refers to the performance of a company that takes place after the conclusion of a contract between the company and its customer. It therefore “fulfills” its promised performance. According to the fulfillment definition, this includes the following points, among others:
What is part of the fulfillment process?
Order acceptance
The acceptance of the online order in the area of e-commerce between the company and the customer (B2B and B2C) triggers all subsequent after-sales service steps.
Orders can be accepted in a variety of ways, whether by post, telephone or electronically by e-mail, fax or an e-commerce store system. RHIEM offers the right solutions in all these areas to supply your customers as quickly as possible.
Warehousing
The central warehouse of fulfillment service provider RHIEM is the ideal location to store your goods easily and cost-effectively and deliver them quickly to your customers.
With its excellent geostrategic location, RHIEM is the first choice for logistics and shipping in Germany in terms of average transportation times and costs for deliveries throughout Europe. Numerous successful projects with a wide variety of online stores guarantee flexibility with a consistently high level of quality.
Order picking
As soon as we receive an order from your customer, an order picker starts picking. It efficiently compiles the necessary items from your product range.
The aim is to achieve the highest possible speed while keeping costs and error rates low. The better we fulfill this task, the more successful you can be in e-commerce.
Packaging
The next step involves packing the order. Depending on the article group, this can be a simple shipping carton or elaborate, double-walled transport packaging for difficult products made of glass or ceramic.
Franking
Our employees use effective systems to select the optimum franking for the customer. After a one-off consultation with you, we will choose the most cost-effective option: postal delivery, parcel delivery or forwarding. You have the choice for your business model.
Fulfillment shipping
Using established quality checks, we ensure in the fulfillment center for the shipping area that the recipients receive the correct goods in the ordered quantity. We cover packing, picking, parcel inserts and other shipping options efficiently, cost-effectively and professionally.
For example, each delivery bill for the online retailer is scanned against the EAN of the individual product and the system verifies that exactly this product belongs to this delivery bill.
Transportation
All carriers and service levels available on the market, such as DHL, UPS, DACHSER or Kühne + Nagel, are at your disposal for transportation.
We select the best possible mode of transportation for you depending on the application and destination country. As a well-known shipper, we also carry out air freight shipments including export declarations for online retailers reliably and securely.
Returns management
Handle returns management efficiently and quickly with the help of RHIEM. You can either define the terms and conditions and an agreement will automatically be made between us and your customer.
Or you can register returns directly via the customer portal, suggest a collection date or provide a shipping label for the end customer to download.
Disposal of returned goods
All carriers and service levels available on the market, such as DHL, UPS, DACHSER or Kühne + Nagel, are at your disposal for transportation. We select the best possible mode of transportation for you depending on the application and destination country. As a well-known shipper, we also handle air freight shipments including export declarations for online retailers reliably and securely.
Spare parts supply
Fulfillment does not have to end with the first order. If we have your goods in stock in our fulfillment warehouse, your customers will be supplied with the necessary spare parts. Fast, cost-efficient and uncomplicated.
Repair
Depending on the type of item, our trained staff can carry out simple repairs on returns and make them fit for sale again. This saves resources when purchasing goods.

In addition, RHIEM offers professional marketing solutions for shipping options such as parcel inserts and advertising inserts. For example, personalized parcel inserts are printed on the basis of customer data. The software and hardware solution from the Munich start-up Adnymics was integrated into the fulfillment and store systems for the multi-page, personalized advertising material. The shipping of the goods (parcels, forwarding, express) can also be individually coordinated.
What is important for a good fulfillment service provider?
The Gabler Wirtschaftslexikon defines fulfillment as the holistic processes that are important for mail order companies. From the logistics chain as a complete solution, such as merchandise management, warehousing, incoming and outgoing goods, flexible delivery via DHL, UPS or other carriers, returns through to reporting on storage, shipping and sales. A good partner must be able to cover all these aspects if required. The key word here is “if required”.
Not every retailer needs everything. Some only need a partner in contract logistics for warehousing including incoming goods & flexible delivery (nationwide or international), others focus on warehousing, B2B distribution and returns processing, and still others are primarily interested in data-driven sales reporting and personal customer support.
A good fulfillment service provider can only offer this flexibility if it has its own processes firmly under control and, in addition to the complete solution, can also prove itself to be a specialist in certain areas. Thanks to its numerous renowned customers, RHIEM has been able to gain a great deal of experience in a wide variety of areas.
Our customers and their specific requirements constantly drive us to make improvements. And this applies to every department from storage, shipping and returns to reporting. We have also been able to develop further this year, for which we would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers once again.
