The fourth and final part of our RHIEM series “How does…?” deals with outgoing goods. Here you can find out everything you need to know about the collection of prepared shipments by the shipping service providers.
The company Eventus GmbH (fictitious company), based in Bavaria, is a customer of RHIEM Services and sells products in the cosmetics industry in the B2C and B2B sectors. It uses its own online store and various online marketplaces as well as distribution channels via a drugstore chain. It has a portfolio with 140 different article numbers, which are delivered worldwide. In order to focus on its core competencies, the company has outsourced its entire logistics and placed the entire fulfillment process in the hands of logistics experts . The integration of the customer as well as the system-side ERP connection was successfully completed by the project management and all necessary processes were individually defined. In this RHIEM series, we show you which services are provided for the company by RHIEM Services and which processes are behind them.
Provision of shipments
Taking into account the defined cut-off times, the B2C and B2B shipments are made available in the outgoing goods zone. The Eventus GmbH products are now ready for collection.
Arrival of the shipping service providers
As a rule, B2C shipments are collected by CEP service providers (RHIEM works with all common CEP service providers – see info box) and B2B shipments by freight forwarders (RHIEM also has framework agreement partners here – see info box).
The advantage for you: We have framework agreements with the carriers – which means lower prices, as we can negotiate with our total volume.
The B2C shipments of Eventus GmbH are handed over to DHL, the B2B shipments to a forwarding agent provided by Eventus. The corresponding trucks drive up to the outgoing goods ramps. There are agreed times for this with the service providers, which are known to Logistics.
Loading the products
The Eventus GmbH products are now being loaded. The CEP pallets are scanned again and driven into the cargo hold of the DHL truck. Eventus GmbH’s B2C customers only receive a shipping notification once the CEP pallets have been scanned and handed over to DHL. The same applies to the loading of B2B pallets, of which Eventus GmbH will only be notified after they have been successfully loaded and left the truck.
This step completes the fulfillment service chain for Eventus GmbH before it starts all over again the following day.
