After more than 80 years, Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps are back in Germany and has engaged RHIEM as its distribution partner. RHIEM is to organise the European warehouse for the US market leader in natural soaps from where it intends to supply the entire European market.
Sandra Bullock uses it, Drew Barrymore swears by it and even rapper Eminem has declared his fondness for the colourful Magic Soaps from Dr. Bronner’s. The company now wants to bring its popular products back to Europe where they were initially developed in 1858. Since 2011, Dr. Bronner’s soaps, creams and lotions are already being sold in Europe through pharmacies, health food shops and selected boutiques. Recently, Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps products have been included in the “& Other Stories” brand of H&M. With this step, the traditional brand hopes to expand its market substantially in Germany and other European countries, winning over new consumers. The RHIEM Group based in Voerde has been put in charge of the central warehouse for Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps from where the goods are to be shipped to retailers and consumers throughout Europe.
The Bronners, a Jewish family, actually produced their first natural soaps in Heilbronn in 1858. The family business was however destroyed when the Nazis came to power. The family fled persecution and eventually settled in the USA – where it soon found an even greater market for its natural soaps and creams. Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps soon acquired a loyal following – not least among the rich and famous. The decision by Emanuel Bronner to continue the family tradition of using natural ingredients and environmentally friendly packaging material proved very popular with young people, who were also attracted by the peace messages printed on the bottles, reflecting the experiences of the Bronner family during the war. Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps soon began producing creams and lotions, which are of course also eco-friendly and made from sustainable resources.
Today, the company is managed in the fifth generation by Emanuel’s grandchildren – and is returning to Germany and Europe. In 2011, Dr. Bronner’s Deutschland GmbH began distributing the products and messages of the company on the Old Continent. The RHIEM Group, a specialist company for logistics, e-commerce and packaging, is assisting Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps in its expansion into the European market. It provides and manages the central warehouse and dispatches the products that include not only soaps but also creams and lotions to retailers and other business customers. Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps was established in 1948 in the USA by Dr. Emanuel Bronner, who fled Germany during the Nazi regime.
